You don't have to wait for one big, awkward "talk." You can create an ongoing conversation.
The Talk was created to help parents and children navigate some of the most important conversations of the preteen and early teen years together.
As children grow, their bodies change, their curiosity grows, and the messages they receive from friends, social media, entertainment, and the internet become louder. This workbook gives families a place to talk first.
With colorful, kid-friendly lessons, activities, conversation prompts, Scripture, and opportunities to write and reflect, The Talk helps children learn about their bodies in language they can understand while reminding them that questions are welcome and their bodies are nothing to be ashamed of.
Rather than separating faith from sexual health education, this workbook brings them together. Children learn that their bodies were intentionally created by God while receiving practical, age-appropriate information about growing up.
Inside, families will explore topics including body basics and anatomy, body safety and boundaries, puberty, hormones and moods, periods, erections and wet dreams, reproduction and how babies are made, feelings and crushes, friendships and peer pressure, screens and inappropriate content, hygiene and caring for a changing body, body image, prayer, Scripture, resilience, and identifying trusted adults.
The workbook also includes activities, reflection questions, parent-child conversation starters, a kid-friendly glossary, Scripture for difficult days, journaling opportunities, and additional resources for parents.
What Makes The Talk Different
This workbook is designed to be read together, not simply handed to a child. It helps parents become a safe and trusted voice in their child's life before someone else becomes the loudest one.
Throughout the book, children are encouraged to:
Ask questions without fear or embarrassment
Learn accurate, age-appropriate information about their bodies
Understand boundaries and know when and how to speak up
Recognize trusted adults they can turn to for help
Navigate puberty and body changes without shame
Talk about feelings, friendships, crushes, screens, and pressure
Connect what they are learning with Scripture and God's design
Grow in confidence, wisdom, and healthy communication
Who Is This Workbook For?
The Talk is designed for preteens and early teens to complete with a parent or trusted adult.
Because every child develops differently, the workbook does not rely on one specific age range. Some children begin experiencing puberty earlier, while others begin later. Parents can use the material according to their child's development, maturity, questions, and readiness.
This is especially helpful for parents who know these conversations are important but aren't always sure what to say, when to say it, or how to begin.
A Note for Parents
You do not have to have every answer.
Your willingness to listen, learn, and have honest conversations matters. The Talk gives you a starting point so conversations about bodies, sexuality, safety, relationships, and faith can become normal parts of your relationship with your child rather than one uncomfortable conversation you have once.
The goal is simple:
Grow. Ask. Learn.
Because when children know they can come to you with the small questions, you're helping create a relationship where they can come to you with the big ones too.
